Where can I get meds for my pet?
We strongly recommend purchasing medications directly from our clinic or through our trusted online pharmacy. Unlike other sources where we can’t verify the origin or storage conditions, our pharmacy ensures your pet receives safe, authentic medications backed by manufacturer guarantees.
Are you a corporate veterinary clinic?
No, we are proudly owned by Dr. Riva Wolkow. When you visit our clinic, you’ll see Dr. Wolkow in person—she is here and happy to care for your pet with the highest level of attention and expertise.
Which vaccines does my pet really need? (Core vs. Non-Core)
Core vaccines are essential for all pets to protect against serious diseases, such as rabies and distemper. Non-core vaccines are recommended based on lifestyle factors, like exposure to other animals or outdoor activity. During your pet’s exam, we’ll help determine the best vaccination plan for their needs.
Is prevention important? Even in the winter?
Yes! Fleas, ticks, and heartworms can still pose a risk during colder months, especially in Georgia’s mild winters. Year-round prevention ensures your pet stays protected without gaps in coverage.
Where do heartworms come from?
Heartworms are transmitted by infected mosquitoes. When a mosquito bites your pet, it can pass heartworm larvae into the bloodstream, leading to serious health issues. The best defense is consistent heartworm prevention.
Spaying/Neutering: Pros & Cons
Spaying and neutering help prevent unwanted litters, reduce certain health risks, and can improve behavior. However, timing and individual health considerations should be discussed with your veterinarian to determine the best approach for your pet.
What age should I spay/neuter my pet?
The recommended age for spaying or neutering varies based on breed and size. While many pets undergo the procedure around 6 months of age, some breeds may benefit from waiting longer. We’ll work with you during a wellness visit to determine the best timing for your pet’s health and well-being.
How much does an annual or routine surgery, like a spay, cost?
The cost of routine surgeries, such as spays, can vary based on factors like your pet’s age, weight, and species. As a privately owned clinic, we take pride in offering affordable care while maintaining the highest standards of medicine. We believe in transparency, so please reach out with your pet’s details, and we’ll be happy to email you a treatment plan with a cost estimate.
